Cancer, sex and relationships
An essential part of cancer care
The UK offers excellent cancer care, yet the profound impact of diagnosis and treatment on intimacy, sexuality and relationships is too often overlooked. Patients may receive the message that sex and relationships are secondary to survival, when they are fundamental to identity, connection and quality of life. Many professionals want to offer support but feel uncertain about how to begin these conversations or where to refer patients for specialist help.
Who is this course for?
This course is for professionals who support people through cancer diagnosis, treatment and recovery, and who want to respond more confidently to the intimate, relational and sexual challenges that can follow.
- Qualified counsellors, psychotherapists and psychologists
- Psychosexual and relationship therapists
- Cancer specialist nurses, oncologists, GPs, doctors and cancer care nurses
- Physiotherapists, lymphatic drainage therapists, occupational therapists, pharmacists and radiologists
