CICS’s programmes have been developed to provide a high-quality learning experience in preparation for ethical, professional, robust, research-based practice in the fields of general psychotherapy and psychosexual and relationship psychotherapy.

Diversity is embedded into everything we do. At CICS we explicitly state our commitment to being an anti-racism organisation and our training follows the guidance of the Coalition for Inclusion and Anti-Oppressive Practice. We are a Disability Confident Committed organisation, and our course access policy and assessment protocols ensure that we support individual student needs in relation to all forms of disability and neurodivergence.

We have either secured or are working towards professional body course accreditation for all of our courses, ensuring that we meet the stringent requirements of the Partnership of Counselling and Psychotherapy Bodies and their Scope of Practice and Education for Counselling and Psychotherapy (SCoPEd) framework.

We don’t have a ‘one size fits all’ philosophy of personal development.

Our modality is Pluralism, embracing the value in all approaches to counselling and psychotherapy, with an emphasis on the uniqueness of each client, the centrality of the therapeutic relationship and research-based practice.

Our teaching style is a distinctive combination of creativity, warmth and academic rigour. Our Faculty Members are leaders in their field of expertise.

Our assessment processes allow for a range of learning styles and access needs and are not exclusively essay based. We don’t have a ‘one size fits all’ philosophy of personal development.

We have our own extensive placement service, The Contemporary Therapy Network, so we can support our students to secure their clinical practice hours.

We are based in our own premises in Letchworth Garden City, Hertfordshire UK, with easy access via the A1 and M1and the rail network.

All of our programmes are based on a blended learning approach, with the knowledge base captured in pre-recorded lectures and readings on our e-learning platform, leaving space for skills practice and the consolidation of learning to take place during our live teaching days. This approach allows our students to go over the knowledge base of their programme repeatedly, with non-time limited access to our comprehensive e-learning resources, resulting in increased skills practice and tutor contact time during our live teaching days.

Fundamentally, we have developed a series of courses that include the best of all of our professional development experiences with the addition of everything we wish we had when we were training ourselves.

We hope you agree that CICS is a good choice for your professional development into both the general psychotherapy profession and the fascinating, specialist area of psychosexual and relationship therapy.
