Working with Grief and Loss: Therapist Essentials

The aim of this short online course is to equip therapists with a better understanding of complex grief and loss particularly in the context of the COVID-19 health crisis.
The training will focus on clinical practice, underpinned by relevant theories, to increase therapists' confidence in working with the themes of grief and loss.
- Understanding complex grief, the stages of grief and the psychological impact of loss.
- Understanding the link between trauma and complex grief, including how post-traumatic stress and cognitive and emotional disturbances develop.
- Understanding how to help clients within the collective grief created by the pandemic, whilst maintaining therapists’ self-care.
- Learning specific practical clinical methods to help clients with complex grief: a pluralistic approach including CBT, mindfulness and existential processes.
